Roxana Café blends Inca-inspired symbolism with contemporary design to create a unique sensory dining experience in Cape Town.

Roxana Café represents a dialogue between past and present. Designed by Zakaria Eliwi of HRarchZ, the space draws inspiration from Inca motifs and translates them into a contemporary architectural language. The interplay of light, shadow, and material creates a refined yet powerful atmosphere, redefining the café experience in Cape Town.

The design of Roxana Café is rooted in storytelling—an exploration of how ancient civilizations can influence modern spatial experiences. Drawing from Inca culture, the project interprets symbolic patterns, monumental forms, and spiritual geometry into a contemporary setting.

DESIGN CONCEPT
The concept revolves around “Monumentality in Intimacy.”
Large-scale architectural gestures, such as arched niches and sculptural walls, are softened by warm lighting and human-centered furniture layouts. The contrast between dark tones and illuminated surfaces creates a dramatic yet welcoming ambiance. Inspired by Inca craftsmanship, the design emphasizes texture, symmetry, and rhythm, while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic that aligns with contemporary café culture.
