Minimalism in Its Purest Form
PROJECT DETAILS
Project Type: Residential Bathroom / Spa Space
Location: Marrakech, Morocco
Design Studio: HRarchZ
Lead Architect: Zakaria Eliwi
Designed by HRarchZ, this space dissolves the boundary between indoors and outdoors.

Designed as a private sanctuary, this bathroom merges contemporary architecture with organic elements. The interplay between shadow and light, combined with natural materials, results in a space that feels both intimate and expansive.

The design emerges from a desire to create a meditative and sensory experience within a functional space. By opening the bathroom to the sky and surrounding it with natural elements, the architecture invites light, air, and greenery into the daily routine. The dark stone envelope provides a grounding contrast to the softness of water and vegetation, enhancing the perception of calm and privacy.
Every element—from the freestanding bathtub to the monolithic sink—has been carefully positioned to reinforce a sense of balance and stillness. The result is a space that feels less like a bathroom and more like a personal retreat.

DESIGN CONCEPT
The concept is rooted in contrast and connection, where dark, solid stone surfaces are balanced by soft natural light and surrounding greenery, creating a dialogue between heaviness and lightness. This interplay is reinforced by a seamless integration between indoor and outdoor environments, allowing the space to feel open, fluid, and connected to nature. Simplicity plays a key role in the design, with minimal forms that emphasize materiality and spatial clarity. The open ceiling and glass partitions dissolve physical boundaries, enabling natural elements such as light, air, and vegetation to become an integral part of the architectural experience.
